Sturgis And Ethanol Ride Again!

The Renewable Fuels Association

The return of the dog days of summer ushers in one of America’s greatest traditions: the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally. In its 70th year, Sturgis welcomes motorcycle enthusiasts from across the country and around the world to celebrate the freedoms motorcycle riding so aptly capture. Once again, the all-American celebration will be fueled by America’s #1 renewable fuel – ethanol. As hundreds of thousands of bikes roar through the shadows of the Black Hills, they will be giving testimony to the ability of America to end its addiction to foreign oil.

“Sturgis and ethanol are the perfect match,” said Renewable Fuels Association Director of Market Development Robert White. “Celebrating the freedoms we all cherish and beauty of the country we call home is what Sturgis is about. And ensuring that those freedoms can be passed on to future generations is what ethanol can help contribute.”

“Relying on American farmers and American know-how, we can end our addiction to foreign oil while creating jobs and protecting our environment here at home,” said White. “The RFA is proud to be back this year to the Sturgis rally and bringing attention to the benefits ethanol offers. “

Specifically, the RFA is partnering with the Legendary Buffalo Chip Campground and the unofficial scribe of Sturgis, the Buffalo Chip Gazette, to promote the use of ethanol blended fuels as a way to combat our increasing dependence on foreign oil. Often mischaracterized as being a problem of engines like those found in motorcycles, the Sturgis rally offers an opportunity to highlight the efficacy of ethanol-blends in all engine types.

Corresponding to this partnership, the RFA is providing a wide range of merchandise and promotional materials to staffers, volunteers and riders at this year’s event.

The RFA is also using this opportunity to highlight the popular, consumer-oriented website called Choose Ethanol. The site is designed for everyday Americans to easily access information about ethanol and, most importantly, where they can buy it.

For those who are not able to make it to the Sturgis Rally this year, opportunities to follow the action will be available. Constant Rally updates will be posted through Twitter from the RFA’s @fuelinggood . Pictures will also be frequently loaded up to Flickr so followers won’t miss a moment of the 70th Annual Sturgis Rally action!
